"A BETTER DAY " -- I returned to my parent's home in Cincinnati for the last days of my mother's life. Two days before the funeral, my aunt Patricia Heit -- my mother's younger sister -- came into my room and said: "You ARE going to sing a song at your mother's funeral, aren't you?" Um.... After she left, I got out my notebook, then my guitar. This song resulted. Joanne Marie Thesing Imbrogno died at Hospice of Cincinnati after a long bout with Alzheimer's.

Over the water, into the trees....
Up on the mountain, away on the breeze.

Into the heavens, into the air...
Release all your worries, release all your cares and...

CHORUS:

Dance. Dance away...
To a better day.

Long has been the journey, hard has been the road.
I wish that you had never had
to carry such a load.

Now that you are free to go, now as you depart,
Here's a wish I send you
from the bottom of our hearts...

CHORUS:

Dance. Dance away...
To a better day.

Thank you for the gifts
you gave throughout your life.
As a sister, friend, a grandma,
As a mother and a wife.

All those seeds you planted,
All the life you raised
Grows strong across the wide green earth --
'May your heart be praised...' As you...

CHORUS:

Dance. Dance away...
To a better day.

OUTRO:

To a better day, To a better day, To a better day.

This is what we pray,
This is what we say to you,
It's time to slip away...

To a better day, now...
To a better day, yeah...
To a better day.

Dance away, O, dance away
It's time to dance away.
Dance away, O, dance away,
It's time to dance today.

To a
better day, now,
To a better day, yeah..
To a better day.

To a better day.
