And so here he is. The relatives lead us to a well-kept, well-visited cemetary near Rende where we discover family graves, like Alberto's. Here are many Napolis, Lapanos, Imbrognos -- some related, some not, resting in profusion.

Once my father and mother moved away from Lorain, Ohio -- where many Imbrognos could be found in the phone book -- the pickings got very slim in the other cities and states where they came to live: New Jersey, Virginia, Ohio. We kids would look for the family name in phone books, on rare occasions finding one, but usually coming up empty. To see tomb after tomb lettered with the names of related and unrelated Imbrognos and Napolis is a reminder of our root stock. We were a seed blown across the Atlantic from these rich fields.
