Flood’s Coming

April 12, 2010

Featured Article, Listen

I got invited to play a trio of songs this Saturday, April 17, as an opener for one of West Virginia’s funnest groups, The 1937 Flood, starting 7:30 p.m. at the Alban Arts Center on Main Street in St. Albans, W.Va. This is one genuinely eclectic string band with a wicked and strange sense of humor. These guys may know more obscure, oddball and wonderful songs than any one set of performers I’ve ever known.  Host Jim Snyder opens the evening with  a song or two. The show is part of the Bayer Colesmouth Concert Series and tickets are $10 at the door, $5 for all high school and college students and free to those 14 and under with an adult. And, as The 1937 Flood members are quick to point out, they’re the band, NOT the natural disaster. Here’s a shot of the band:

Oops, no wait. That’s the disaster. Here’s the band …

Have you ever seen such a fine and serious set of upstanding gentlemen?
