I didn’t get around to recording the Saturday, April 3 debut of our new musical-theatrical troupe, Third Eye Cabaret, at The Room Upstairs in Princeton, W.Va. This photo is the sole evidence we actually did perform, kicking various musical butts,  it should be noted. We were the final act in the concluding event of All Together Arts Week, pulled together by serial event organizer and Mercer County creative wunderkind Lori McKinney (who happens to be the chick drummer on stage with us in this Cabaret crew shot). We perform next from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on  Saturday, May 22, at Taylor Books in Charleston, W.Va., with special guests Option 22. And if you like out-there music festivals in hyper-cool locations, plan to attend Culturefest 2010, from Sept. 9 to 12, at the Appalachian South Folklife Center near Pipestem in southern West Virginia. Third Eye Cabaret joins a lineup of nearly 20 bands, dancers and other acts in this worldly festival atop a mountain, featuring one of the most dramatic outdoor stages in the Appalachian hills.

Meanwhile, I’ve started recording some new Cabaret tunes in the Audible Arts Studio at the back of The Room Upstairs. This is my pensive, moody, singer-songwriter contemplating-the-universe out the window look. Or perhaps my fly was down. One or the other.
