Davening: The Jewish style of praying in which prayer becomes a meditational liturgy.

Duhkha: The suffering that is a part of life. Sometimes translated directly as "suffering" or even "stress." But perhaps "unsatisfactoriness" is closer to the sense of the word in the Buddha's teaching, in that all things are ultimately impermament and unsatisfactory as a result, most especially when we cling to them

Nirvana: Final death of limitations and suffering, literally "extinguishing (the flame)."

Roshi: A trained Zen master or teacher.

Sangha: The Buddhist community or congregation.

Torah: The Jewish canon.

Yarmulke: The traditional Jewish soft cap worn by males on the back of the head.

Zazen: Zen style meditation; literally "sitting Zen."
